When searching for a reliable aluminum extrusion partner, not only must their manufacturing capabilities be considered, but also their aluminum distribution services. Look to Taber Extrusions for their turnkey services that encompass all the above.

Product Capabilities in Aluminum Distribution Services

Taber Extrusions is a leading manufacturer of aluminum shapes, aluminum billet, and other aluminum products. With a diverse selection of aluminum products, from both standard and non-standard aluminum shapes, to the production of aluminum billets in a full range of aluminum alloys, Taber Extrusions is a full service supplier. In addition, Taber’s portfolio also includes friction stir welding, and extensive CNC-machining/fabrication capabilities.

Whether it is broad profiles or ultraprecision extrusions, Taber’s capabilities range from industry standard extrusions to intricate custom designs that meet very specific needs. The company’s standard shape catalog includes:  rods, hollows, channels, beams, angles, tees, zees, and bars in a wide range of sizes.

A Strong Network in Aluminum Distribution Services

Plus, the aluminum distribution market is exceedingly significant for Taber. In their Gulfport location, it accounts for approximately half of Taber’s business. Taber’s commercial network, aligned with key aluminum distributors, allows them to reach customers – both domestic and international. Distribution allows Taber to reach customers that might be too small to take a mill minimum order. It also allows Taber to reach industries that are perhaps not used to buying direct from a mill,  making Taber top choice in aluminum distribution services.

About Taber Extrusions

In a quest to continuously improve the quality and service we provide to our customers, Taber Extrusions continues to evolve by adding products, services, and cutting-edge technology.

Founded in 1973, Taber Extrusions originally pioneered a process for extruding rectangular billet which enables the company to extrude extra-large aluminum extrusion profiles up to 31 inches wide or hollows up to 29 inches. Taber expanded with the purchase of an extrusion facility in Gulfport, MS in 1995 which houses a state-of-the-art cast house and two additional presses, micro-extrusion capabilities, and the fabrication area has been expanded multiple times.

What’s more, Taber continues to extrude billet in a wide range of alloys and sizes and has diversified its markets beyond military. Since its inception, Taber has worked to include aerospace, automotive, marine, infrastructure, and sporting goods, among many others.

Additionally, in-house casting solutions, ultra-precision extrusion manufacturing, friction stir welding capacities, and a full range of hard and soft aluminum alloys are part of Taber’s portfolio. Taber continues to align itself as an industry leader in having the broadest available capabilities.

Today, Taber Extrusions is proud of its relatively recent addition, the VF-12 CNC machining line. Along with a full offering of extruded aluminum components, value-added machining services, and raw material supply to the North American market, Taber keeps expanding services. Adding these capabilities to a growing portfolio propels Taber into the future. In a quest to continuously improve quality and service, we aim to be your aluminum extrusion partner.

Taber’s Growing Fabrication and Machining Capabilities

2018-06-26T16:27:16+00:00May 29th, 2018|

For decades, the aluminum extrusion experts, Taber Extrusions, have served customers in a wide variety of industries. New technological advancements and emerging industries inspired Taber Extrusions to upgrade and increase their facilities and capabilities, allowing the company to meet the needs of a larger customer base.

The new fabrication facility at Taber’s Russellville, Arkansas location features CNC (computer numerical control) machining. The move to CNC machining allows more precision and control over machine operations resulting in improved product quality.

Taber has added several new pieces of equipment to the new facility including the Haas VF-7, the Emmegi Satellite XT, the HMC500, and the ZIESS CMM. The new facility also houses precision saws that increase cutting precision and decreases scrap material.  The B&O B-800 series and the Marvel Band Saw are featured.

With the new fabrication and machining capabilities, Taber Extrusions has the ability to meet the needs of customers in industries that require the most cutting-edge technology, such as electric vehicles for individual and mass transportation.

Screen Shot 2016-12-21 at 10.52.06 AMTaber Extrusions is your full service partner from design to delivery. Our engieneers and designers work alongside you to turn your concept into a working product through our expert machining with a personal touch. CNC machining is used extensively by aluminum extrusion companies to increase efficiency and reduce error in all steps of the extrusion process, from casting, to extrusion and beyond. Our mission is to fully understand the machining needs of our customers’ aluminum extrusion-based products. Taber’s remarkable attention to the needs of the market position the company to provide customized, versatile, high-quality market-oriented products that can satisfy a wide range of applications.

Our Haas VF-7 is a rugged, large-sized VMC that yields full reliability and accuracy in a large-framed machine. The VF-7 has a 40-taper cartridge spindle driven by a 30 hp vector Dual-Drive (Y-Delta) drive. The VF-7 produces either 75 ft-lb of torque at a low 1400 rpm, or 250 ft-lb at 450 rpm with the optional 2-speed gearbox — and will also run up to 8,100 rpm in 1.2 seconds for finishing aluminum.

Up next the Emmegi Satellite XT allows for efficient work-piece machining advantages in pendulum mode including multiple set-ups. The work space of our longbed machining center can be divided into two areas, granting us the ability to load and unload on one side while machining on the other side. This level of efficiency in a machining process in return saves our customers money and time.

The HMC500 comes fully loaded with features for incredibly fast cycle times. Achieving 20% faster rapid and acceleration than our phenomenally fast HM500S machine, the HMC500 is constructed with a lightweight column featuring a rigid stepped X axis rail design. This column enables a rapid feed rate of 63 meters per minute, 2480 inches per minute, with acceleration of 1G.

Finally, through highly accurate scanning technologies, our Zeiss CMM has the ability to capture a fully defined 3D measurement for any of our extruded and fabricated profiles. Having this capability allows us to maintain the highest levels of quality by having our profiles extruded the right way- every time.
