The new fabrication facility at Taber’s Russellville, Arkansas location features CNC (computer numerical control) machining. The move to CNC machining allows more precision and control over machine operations resulting in improved product quality.
Taber has added several new pieces of equipment to the new facility including the Haas VF-7, the Emmegi Satellite XT, the HMC500, and the ZIESS CMM. The new facility also houses precision saws that increase cutting precision and decreases scrap material. The B&O B-800 series and the Marvel Band Saw are featured.
With the new fabrication and machining capabilities, Taber Extrusions has the ability to meet the needs of customers in industries that require the most cutting-edge technology, such as electric vehicles for individual and mass transportation.
Inside Taber Extrusion’s new state-of-the-art casthouse, aluminum billets are cast and extruded into a wide range of shapes and sizes. Taber offers the full range of aluminum alloys, including, hard, soft, marine, and armor grade, a unique capability in the industry.
Taber’s capabilities allow the company to serve several industries, including aerospace and firearms. The hard alloys that are created are ideal for these industries due to their high strength and corrosion resistance.
Taber serves both relatively small and large firearm manufacturers, establishing unique profiles for each customer. Customers have the option of requesting custom shapes with unique specifications or purchasing from Taber’s existing inventory.
To highlight some of the company’s services: Taber offers custom extrusions to be used in the manufacturing of AR-15 variant rifles. The aluminum alloys used for these shapes are the same as those used in military grade jets. Taber can provide both oversized extrusions as well as shapated that are as small as 1 millimeter for manufacturing firearms.
Taber’s resumé includes service to all the major aerospace manufacturers in the U.S. The extruded shapes provided by Taber are used for important components of aerospace vehicles, including the fuselage/pressure cabin, seat/cargo tracks, lower and upper horizontal stabilization, and upper and lower wing skin/spars/stringers. After aluminum has been extruded, it is sent to the machining center to be cut, sawed, and processed. Our aluminum fabrication capabilities include precision sawing, horizontal machining and manufacturing, long length CNC machining, 5-axis CNC machining, as well as high speed vertical machining capability.
Our focus today is our HMC 500 horizontal machining center. Built for speed and faster cycle times, this machine features a 500mm pallet designed to accommodate some of the largest work pieces in its class. The fully-loaded HMC 500 works with 50 horsepowerand a lightweight column featuring a rigid stepped X axis rail design. This column enables a rapid feed rate of 63 meters per minute, 2480 inches per minute, with acceleration of 1G.
All in one set-up, the HP 500 can perform a variety of operations at an extremely rapid speed.

Emmegi Satellite XT allows for efficient work-piece machining advantages in pendulum mode including multiple set-ups. The work space of our longbed machining center can be divided into two areas, granting us the ability to load and unload on one side while machining on the other side. This expedited machining process saves our customers time and money, while delivering Taber’s definitive level of quality.
The Haas VF-7 is a rugged, large-sized VMC that yields full reliability and accuracy in a large-framed machine. The VF-7 has a 40-taper cartridge spindle driven by a 30 hp vector Dual-Drive (Y-Delta) drive. The VF-7 produces either 75 ft-lb of torque at a low 1400 rpm, or 250 ft-lb at 450 rpm with the optional 2-speed gearbox — and will also run up to 8,100 rpm in 1.2 seconds for finishing aluminum.
Through highly accurate scanning technologies, our Zeiss CMM has the ability to capture a fully defined 3D measurement for any of our extruded and fabricated profiles. Having this capability allows us to verify process capability and ensure that our customers receive the highest levels of quality.
