SANDY — Hundreds of Utah Scouts got to take part in a record-breaking race Saturday.
Scouts, adults and anyone else who wanted to try out the world’s largest Pinewood Derby track gathered at Rio Tinto Stadium to race their cars. The track, which measured 334 feet long, easily broke the previous world record of 263 feet, set in February.
It took cars roughly 30 seconds to make it from start to finish. The track was designed by engineer Steve Atkinson, who says it’s easily the longest one he’s ever worked on.
